Star Wars characters and toys warp into the 'Disney Infinity' world
Star Wars characters old and new are landing in the Disney Infinity universe, lightsabers and all.
Disney Interactive announced Disney Infinity 3.0, the next installment of the now annualized toys-to-life franchise will focus heavily on the Star Wars universe, while also featuring other characters from current and upcoming Disney, Pixar and Marvel films.

The game's story mode will have three playsets. One is set in the prequel universe of Episode I-III,
featuring Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth
Maul playable characters manifested as collectable toys. The second
features characters from the original trilogy — Luke Skywalker, Princess
Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Darth Vader — in both space battles with
vehicles like the Millenium Falcon and X-Wing fighters and in ground
battles on Hoth, Endor and Tatooine.

The final Star Wars playset will be set in the world of the new trilogy, and will release along with The Force Awakens this holiday.
In addition to Star Wars, Disney Infinity will have playsets set in Pixar's upcoming Inside Out and a Marvel playset featuring Ultron, Hulkbuster Iron Man and other characters.

There
will also be stand-alone figures as well, including Disney icons Mickey
and Minnie Mouse (who somehow hadn't already joined the series),
snowman Olaf from Frozen, Sam Flynn and Quorra from Tron: Legacy
and Mulan. These figures will work in the game's open-world Toy Box
Mode, which allows players to construct their own worlds and games.
Toy Box mode is also getting new options for play, including two
multiplayer games: an action-adventure title called "Toy Box Takeover"
and a cart racing game known as "Toy Box Speedway."

The
game does not have a firm release date beyond this fall. The starter
set will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox
360, Wii U, PC and iOS for $64.99.
