'I didn't want to get in trouble': Kim Kardashian left phone at home to follow 'no selfie' rule at Met Gala (but ended up using Kanye West's cell)
Kim
Kardashian said Tuesday she left her own phone at home when she went to
the Met Gala because she didn't want to get on the wrong side of Anna
Wintour's selfie ban.
The 34-year-old, who appeared totally nude under her sheer gown, told Extra
that she had to use husband Kanye West's phone once it became clear
that other people had no qualms about snapping pics at the exclusive
fashion event on Monday night.
'Everyone
started to take pictures, but I didn’t even bring my phone in so I got
photos from Kanye’s phone, because he was just taking pictures,' she
said. 'I was like I don’t want to get in trouble.'
No phone for selfie queen: Kim
Kardashian told Extra she didn't take her phone to the Met Gala because
she didn't want to get in trouble for breaking Anna Wintour's 'no
selfies' rule
No selfies: Vogue's Editor-in-Chief
Anna Wintour was the host for the Met Gala and apparently gave
instructions that guests shouldn't indulge in taking photos or use
social media during the event
Blame Kanye: Kim said her rapper
husband didn't have any qualms about breaking the selfie ban, taking
this photo of them with Madonna and Diplo
Another photo that should not have happened, according to the rule book: Mr and Mrs West with Cher and Marc Jacobs
Guests
at the gala received notice upon arrival that 'the use of phones for
photography and social media will not be permitted' throughout the
event, a controversial ban that was apparently at the request of the
evening’s host, Anna Wintour.
In
any case, it's clear that Kim wouldn't have had anywhere to put her
phone, arriving at the prestigious fashion event in a daring see-through
Roberto Cavalli gown that left almost nothing to the imagination and
definitely didn't have any pockets. She didn't have a purse either.
She
told Extra that she's grateful to her husband for
capturing images from
the evening including the moment when she hooked up with Jennifer
Lopez, the pair of them both almost baring all in peek-a-boo designer
gowns.
'He
was videoing us walking up the stairs and taking all these pictures,
and I turned around and said, "What are you doing?" And he said: "I just
got to get this moment."'
Morning after: Kim made the revelation
to TV show Extra at her book signing in New York Tuesday for her
collection of selfies called Selfish
