Destiny-xur-agent-of-the-nine

Every Friday is a holiday when you're a Destiny fan. That's when Xur, Agent of the Nine, appears in a random part of the game's Tower social hub to peddle his rare weapons and armor. As long as you have enough Strange Coins, a rare currency that can be earned by completing Weekly Heroic Strikes, Xur has the goods for you.
Xur deals in Destiny's so-called "exotic" gear. In a game ruled by random loot drops from virtually any scenario, exotics are the most sought-after of them all. They're also the only class of gear in the game with usage restrictions; namely, you can only have one exotic armor piece and one exotic weapon equipped at any given moment.

Xur's in the Tower from 4 a.m. ET on Friday to 4 a.m. ET on Sunday. This week, he's tucked all the way back in the lounge. Turn right when you spawn in the Tower and follow the corridor toward the hangar. Stick to the left as you enter and look for a set of stairs leading down. Go down there, hook a right, and proceed all the way to the back of the room (behind the bar, up a small set of stairs) to find the Agent of the Nine.
  • Helm of Inmost Light (Titan helmet): This Titan helmet is indispensable if you're a fan of the Striker subclass. The marquee upgrade applies both the Headstrong and Death From Above modifiers to the Striker's "Fist of Havoc" Super Ability. There are three Fist of Havoc modifiers on that branch of the Striker's upgrade tree and you can normally equip only one at a time. But with Inmost Light, you get two of them as freebies, which means it's possible to supercharge Fist of Havoc with all three at once. Less useful (though hardly unwelcome) is an upgrade that reduces your melee cooldown with each Orb of Light collected. Cost: 13 Strange Coins
  •  Radiant Dance Machines (Hunter boots): Aside from having a cool-ass name, these Hunter boots have an upgrade that allows you to move much faster when you're aiming down a weapon's sights. Pair them with the MIDA Multi-Tool exotic scout rifle, which boosts your movement speed in general, to really zip around the battlefield. The boots also have an upgrade that increases your heavy ammo capacity. Cost: 13 Strange Coins
  • Voidfang Vestments (Warlock chestpiece): For Warlocks that love the Voidwalker subclass — and the Axion Bolt grenade, specifically — this chestpiece is a winner. Axion Bolt works like a cluster grenade where each mini-explosive it splits into seeks out nearby enemies. With Voidfang's upgrade, the explosion adds an extra seeker to the mix. It's also got the added benefit of fully recharging your grenade cooldown whenever you respawn, though that's more useful in PvP than PvE. In addition to Improved Axion Bolt, the Voidfang also includes upgrades the boost the ammo capacity on special weapons and hand cannons Cost: 13 Strange Coins
  • The Last Word (hand cannon): Even among Destiny's diverse assortment of super-rare exotic weapons, The Last Word is a standout. The two key upgrades both improve your ability to fire from the hip, with the first improving accuracy and the second boosting both damage and stability whenever you're not aiming down the sights. The Last Word isn't just defined by it's upgrades, though. This revolver's got style. There's a nifty finger-twirl whenever you switch to The Last Word from another weapon, and your Guardian fans the hammer when firing from the hip (which, in addition to looking badass, also increases the rate of fire). Cost: 23 Strange Coins

  • Exotic Chestpiece engram: Destiny's engrams are unidentified gear that spit out a random item when "decoded" by the Cryptarch vendor in the Tower. Xur occasionally sells exotic engrams in exchange for another rare currency, "Motes of Light." It's always a roll of the dice when you buy an exotic engram. Given that Destiny's next expansion, House of Wolves, is out on May 19, it's probably a good idea to hang onto your Motes and wait to see what the DLC brings. Cost: 23 Motes of Light
  • Exotic Shard: This crafting material was introduced alongside Destiny's first expansion pack, The Dark Below. One is required to fully upgrade any exotic gear, weapon and armor both. You can always get a "free" exotic shard when you dismantling an exotic, but Xur sells them every week. Cost: 7 Strange Coins
In addition to the gear, Xur also peddles a rotating stock of consumables every week. For this week, he's got Pulse Rifle Telemetry, Hand Cannon Telemetry and Shotgun Telemetry (temporarily increases the XP gains on the designated weapon class) in bundles of five, for 1 Strange Coin apiece; a Plasma Drive that boosts the speed and durability of rare Sparrows (Destiny's speeder bikes), for 23 Strange Coins; a Void Drive, which works the same as a Plasma Drive but also adds a purple contrail to the Sparrow, also for 23 Strange Coins; and bundles of five Heavy Ammo Synthesis (ammo packs, y'all), for 1 Strange Coin.
